Wastewater Operator 1
The Town of Georgetown is accepting applications for the position of Wastewater Operator I. The position performs varied but routine manual work for a municipal wastewater department. Work involves both light and heavy physical labor and the use of a variety of tools.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Monitors the performance and maintains the pumping stations
- Performs daily tests to monitor pH and chlorine levels in a wastewater treatment plant
- Operates valves in the running of a treatment and transmission system
- Reads, monitors and records wastewater flows
- Conducts routine maintenance of buildings and grounds of all wastewater facilities
- Conducts repairs and maintenance on all wastewater equipment
- Assists in the reading of utility meters
- Performs other related work as required
Desired Education & Experience
- High School Diploma
- State of Delaware Level I Wastewater Operator’s license
- Possession of a valid Delaware driver’s license and clean driving record
- A commercial driver’s license – Class B
- Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) encouraged, not required
